Education Edge Program

Education Edge is the program Tennessee developed through federal funding from the 1994 School-to-Work Opportunities Act.

With a mandate from the local community, the mission of the Dickson County Education Edge Partnership is to enhance educational opportunities and character development for all students in Dickson County.

Mission

To facilitate a partnership between educators, civic groups, citizens, parents, local government, and the business community.

Purpose

To promote school and business partnerships that will provide young people with the necessary skills and knowledge for the workplace of the 21st century.

Education Edge Steering Committee

The Education Edge Steering Committee meets monthly to discuss issues and activities affecting Dickson County in the areas of education and business, and career preparation. Throughout the years, the partnership has been involved in numerous activities:

  • Providing speakers for the Work-based Learning classes
  • Emphasizing the CharacterCounts! program in the community
  • Supporting the new school anti-bullying program, "Take a Stand, Lend a Hand"
  • Providing mentors for the TNPromise Program
  • Promoting the TNReconnect Program
  • Promoting the post-secondary programs of Freed Hardeman University, TCAT at Dickson, and Nashville State
  • Organizing and hosting Education Day for Leadership Dickson County
  • Providing input on local educational concerns and plans
  • Organizing Made in Dickson County Expo
  • Organizing and hosting Harlem Wizards fundraiser for the CTE Program
