Phone Hookup
For telephone service, phone 1-888-757-6500. You will be connected with one of 500 BellSouth representatives in Memphis, Jackson, Nashville, Chattanooga, Clarksville or Columbia.
After you have requested service, a company employee will ask you four credit questions:
New customers who do not pass a credit check must pay a deposit fee, which earns six percent interest until refunded. The phone company may refund the deposit depending on various factors.
The company charges a connection fee if you already have plug-in outlets and the service can be turned on at the office. All arrangements can be made without ever having to go to the office.
If there is no outlet, a serviceman will make a visit to your home for a fee. Also, a BellSouth spokesperson said that customers may do their own wiring if they follow Federal Communications Commission guidelines.
If a visit is not required, in some cases, service may be turned on the same day as requested.
